TR: May 5

This week, we've continued to work on Desensitizing, Flexing, Yielding the HQ & FQ, Backing, Lunging Stage 1 & 2, & Circle Driving. I've also added an exercise called Changing Eyes, which has greatly improved TR's softness in the halter. I was pleased with where we ended today's session.

I had planned to do our "first ride" this week, but I saw some good changes that I wanted to continue to build upon & some areas that I wanted to improve further before climbing aboard.

Overall, he's gotten much more fluid throughout the groundwork. He has a few moments where he gets stuck in reverse, especially once he's saddled, but those have become less & less. Early in the week, he wasn't at the level of softness that I would like to have, but I was pleased with where he was at the end of today's session after introducing the Changing Eyes exercise.

Upon first being tied up, he'll see himself in the chrome of the trailer & prepare for a fight, but otherwise has been relatively quiet & focused once we get to work.

Next week, I anticipate having our "first ride" on Tuesday if all goes well. I'll evaluate what he's like under saddle & see what our starting point will be.

Next week's update will be posted on Saturday.

I do my best to get these updates posted in a timely manner, but it's not uncommon for me to be outside until after dark, depending on the weather, my schedule, & who gets worked when so updates will sometimes be posted quite late in the evening. Don't be alarmed if you don't see your update right away. In rare cases, I may have to push them until the next morning, but I'll reach out & let you know if so.
