Cricket: July 7

This week was a good one for Cricket. We were able to get into the arena on Thursday; otherwise, we spent the rest of the week riding on the place where we did our lesson. We've continued to work on Bend at the Walk & Bending Transitions at the trot. We very briefly touched on Vertical Flexion at the Standstill as well. She continues to get softer & softer. Today was supposed to be bath day, but I ended up having to give my husband a ride to the dentist in Norfolk due to a bad tooth infection, so I had to quickly take pictures of everybody before we lost light this evening. This evening, I also noticed that Cricket had a bit of heat & inflammation on the right side of her neck. She's acting normal & it doesn't seem to be painful. There's no wound or puncture spot. I wonder if it's not a reaction to an insect bite. I poulticed it to help with the heat & inflammation & will continue to monitor it over the next couple of days.

Next week, I anticipate the arena being soggy for most of the week, so we'll continue to ride & work on things outside of the arena, which will be great for Cricket. We may even head down the lane for the first time.

Next week's update will be posted on Saturday.

I do my best to get these updates posted in a timely manner, but it's not uncommon for me to be outside until after dark, depending on the weather, my schedule, & who gets worked when so updates will sometimes be posted quite late in the evening. Don't be alarmed if you don't see your update right away. In rare cases, I may have to push them until the next morning, but I'll reach out & let you know if so.
