Cody: May 13

Hope you guys enjoyed the rain & missed out on the severe weather! We had around 3" total for the week, with 2.38" coming Friday/Friday night. Much needed!

This week went much better than last week for Cody. We took a couple of steps back in some areas to make things a bit easier so that he didn't feel the need to get so anxious. We've been doing a lot of work on Neck Reining, which he does quite well with. It seems that getting in his mouth is what causes some of his anxiety, so we've been doing a bit less of that as a general rule & focusing on getting the rest of his body responding softly through Neck Reining, Shoulder In/Out & Sidepassing. We've also been doing a bit of Draw to Walk Transitions, which has helped everything.

Next week, we'll probably be spending most of our time outside of the arena, as it's pretty wet & sloppy. As we ride, we'll continue to work on his vertical & lateral softness along with some light body control.

Next week's update will be posted on Saturday.

I do my best to get these updates posted in a timely manner, but it's not uncommon for me to be outside until after dark, depending on the weather, my schedule, & who gets worked when so updates will sometimes be posted quite late in the evening. Don't be alarmed if you don't see your update right away. In rare cases, I may have to push them until the next morning, but I'll reach out & let you know if so.
