Cody: August 11

This week, Cody has progressed into a frog mouth ported bit & the romal reins. It has a little different feel compared to the Jim Edwards correction bit we've been riding in. We've been doing a lot of neck reining, vertical flexion, stopping & backing, sidepassing, & turnarounds to acclimate him to the new feel. He's done quite well with this. Still a bit of work to get the responsiveness & body control where I would like to see it at the trot & lope one-handed, but that will just take more repetition & practice. I busted out the stock whip & roped the dummy briefly as well earlier in the week. That went pretty well beyond the initial introduction. Next week, we'll continue working on refining these exercises one-handed in the new bit, particularly at the trot & lope, while also continuing to rope the dummy. I'll also bring the training ball back out & drag the sled. - Lexy Nuesch

Next week's update will be posted on Saturday.

I do my best to get these updates posted in a timely manner, but it's not uncommon for me to be outside until after dark, depending on the weather, my schedule, & who gets worked when so updates will sometimes be posted quite late in the evening. Don't be alarmed if you don't see your update right away. In rare cases, I may have to push them until the next morning, but I'll reach out & let you know if so.
