This week, we played around with the rope, dragging the sled, & cracking the stock whip. I didn't get a chance to introduce the training ball as we spent some time in the arena touching on Stopping & Backing, Sidepassing, Shoulder In/Out, the Turnaround (which still continues to be so much better than when we first started on it), Neck Reining, Backing Circles, & Yielding the HQ on a Straight Line (this is tough for him as he tends to get bilateral or assume he needs to move his shoulders).
While he continues to approach me in the pen, more than willing to be caught, he can still be a little unsure of things on the ground that first day after time off. Once he gets back on the same page, then he can almost be dull in some instances, both on the ground & under saddle. He's been a tough one to find that balance between being overly sensitive about some things & not sensitive enough about others.
Next week, I'll air up the training ball & continue to refine a few little exercises before pickup on Friday, August 11th.

Next week's update will be posted on Thursday.
I do my best to get these updates posted in a timely manner, but it's not uncommon for me to be outside until after dark, depending on the weather, my schedule, & who gets worked when so updates will sometimes be posted quite late in the evening. Don't be alarmed if you don't see your update right away. In rare cases, I may have to push them until the next morning, but I'll reach out & let you know if so.
