A successful first saddle this week!
We've continued to work on Desensitizing to the Lead Rope & Stick & String, Yielding the Hindquarters & Forequarters, Backing, Lunging Stages 1 & 2, Flexing, Sending, & Circle Driving. Slate has gotten much softer & less reactive this week, even with the crazy wind this week.
On Tuesday, we did Slate's first saddle. He did bronc around a bit at first. Once he got that out of his system, he would get sticky feet from time to time. He did great while turned out in the arena saddled for the afternoon. Initially, he was a bit worried about Slapping the Saddle & Popping the Stirrups at first, but by the end of the week, he wasn't worried about it. The plan is to do the first rides on Sunday afternoon.
Dentals are scheduled for the afternoon of Wednesday, October 19, with my vet coming up in November for general evaluation, chiropractic, & acupuncture, if needed.
Next week's update will be posted on Friday.
