Shasta: June 16

Hope you haven't been missing Shasta too badly!

This week, we've gotten right down to business. We've been working on Flexing, Down & Around, Bend at the Walk, Bending Transitions, Vertical Flexion at the Standstill, Walk & Trot, Stopping &. Backing, Shoulder In/Out, Draw to Walk Transitions, & a bit of Neck Reining. We've spent time in arena, on the place working on our exercises, & on the gravel roads.

She's getting softer & softer & has begun to soften immediately upon applying pressure.

Down the gravel roads, she did relatively well. She travels the straightest at the trot & lope. She was initially a bit all over, but does much better during the last half of our rides. She didn't offer to turn around.

She'll get a couple of well deserved days off as she soaks one what we worked on this week. She'll come back even better than she was today.

Next week, we'll continue to build upon these exercises both inside & outside of the arena.

Next week's update will be posted on Saturday.

I do my best to get these updates posted in a timely manner, but it's not uncommon for me to be outside until after dark, depending on the weather, my schedule, & who gets worked when so updates will sometimes be posted quite late in the evening. Don't be alarmed if you don't see your update right away. In rare cases, I may have to push them until the next morning, but I'll reach out & let you know if so.
