Rosie: November 3

This week, Rosie was introduced to Round Penning, Desensitizing to the Lead Rope & Stick & String, Yielding the Hindquarters & Forequarters, Lunging Stage 1, & Sending. This was all pretty new to her aside, though I could tell she has had some experience with Round Penning & Lunging; however, I'm not sure there was much structure to it beyond just sending her around. She tends to get a bit rushed in what she does. As we've progressed through the week, she's realized that she doesn't need to put nearly as much energy into what I'm asking.

Overall, her first week went well. She's quite interested in what's going on outside of the round pen so we'll work to bring that focus to me quicker & quicker each day. She's relatively stiff (reminds me of a big long 2x4 right now) so a lot of emphasis will also be placed on that as we continue to progress. Yesterday, in preparation for our trip to the dentist, I double-checked that she would be comfortable loading & unloading onto my slant trailer as I was unsure she had been on one before. She did well both loading & unloading.

Today, Rosie got to hop in the trailer & head a short way down the road for her dental. Jeff, the dentist, could tell she had been done before but she was not very well balanced. She had some sharp points & ETR (Excessive Transverse Ridges). She did not have any wolf teeth present to pull. A bit seat was also added & she had her incisors balanced.

Next week, we'll continue with our groundwork, working on Round Penning, Desensitizing, Yielding the HQ, Yielding the FQ, Lunging Stage 1, & Sending while also adding in Backing, Flexing, Lunging Stage 2, & Circle Driving. - Lexy Nuesch

Next week's update will be posted on Friday.

I do my best to get these updates posted in a timely manner, but it's not uncommon for me to be outside until after dark, depending on the weather, my schedule, & who gets worked when so updates will sometimes be posted quite late in the evening. Don't be alarmed if you don't see your update right away. In rare cases, I may have to push them until the next morning, but I'll reach out & let you know if so.
