I hope you & your family had a great Thanksgiving!
This holiday week flew by & sure did a 180° turn weather-wise. From nearly 70° on Wednesday to in the teens & snowing off & on Thursday/Friday/Saturday. We continued to work on Round Penning, Desensitizing, Yielding the HQ & FQ, Lunging Stage 1 & 2, Sending, & Circle Driving. On Tuesday, she had her first saddle here. She saddled up nicely. She was a bit cold-backed & offered some crow hops (though my rocking horse as a kid put in more effort than she did). However, she showed me that there was some tension we will need to work through under saddle. Because of that, I held off on her first ride & bridling. She wasn't bothered by my desensitizing with the saddle & popping the stirrups.
Next week, we'll spend some additional time with groundwork while saddled & re-introduce the bridle (really focusing on how soft she can be). We'll move her "first" ride to next Sunday when I'll have my round pen helper here. - Lexy Nuesch
Next week's update will be posted on Sunday.
I do my best to get these updates posted in a timely manner, but it's not uncommon for me to be outside until after dark, depending on the weather, my schedule, & who gets worked when so updates will sometimes be posted quite late in the evening. Don't be alarmed if you don't see your update right away. In rare cases, I may have to push them until the next morning, but I'll reach out & let you know if so.
