Rosie: December 3

A big week here for Rosie! We continued to work on Round Penning, Desensitizing, Yielding the HQ & FQ, Lunging Stage 1 & 2, Sending, Circle Driving, & Popping the Stirrups. At times, she has a tendency to still want to get stiff & rushed, but improvement is being made. There were a few moments when she wanted to get heavy & hang on the bridle while flexing this week, though she's done well overall. Today, she had her first ride here. It was very textbook. My goal with these first rides, regardless of their past experience, is to begin the installation process on a responsive gas pedal, work on some inside & outside turns as an introduction to steering, & do a bunch of moving around while aboard. These rides start with Flexing & Yielding the HQ before asking them to move off around the round pen. My husband doesn't typically video the entire first ride, so you'll see the snippets that he pulled the phone out for. What he didn't capture was the beginning where I'm doing some Flexing & Yielding the HQ & the end where we do some inside & outside turns.

I also included a fun little video I caught that I forgot to add to last week's update.

Next week, we'll continue to work on a few pieces of groundwork while putting a couple more rides on in the round pen before moving to the arena, where we'll work on One Rein Stops, Yielding the HQ, & Cruising. - Lexy Nuesch

Next week's update will be posted on Friday.

I do my best to get these updates posted in a timely manner, but it's not uncommon for me to be outside until after dark, depending on the weather, my schedule, & who gets worked when so updates will sometimes be posted quite late in the evening. Don't be alarmed if you don't see your update right away. In rare cases, I may have to push them until the next morning, but I'll reach out & let you know if so.
