Roam: July 15

This week didn't go quite to plan, as I was under the weather Monday & Tuesday, but Roam finally had his first rides here. We had to ride on the place after we had gotten a good 2.5" of rain in 24 hours, leaving the arena pretty wet. I'm confident that he's going to be just fine once we get into the meat & potatoes of our ridden exercises. While there's definitely some stiffness & some sticky feet there, it really comes down to inexperience & not having been taught yet. Once he realized that he couldn't buffalo me & pull me around, then he moved out pretty nicely. He hasn't had any tense moments thus far. We'll definitely be moving into the snaffle soon as he's got some stiffness that we may not be able to overcome in the hackamore.

Next week, we'll primarily spend our time in the saddle. Fingers crossed that the arena dries out enough that we can get in there. If not, we'll continue working up here on the place & we may venture down the lane & down the gravel roads.

Next week's update will be posted on Friday.

I do my best to get these updates posted in a timely manner, but it's not uncommon for me to be outside until after dark, depending on the weather, my schedule, & who gets worked when so updates will sometimes be posted quite late in the evening. Don't be alarmed if you don't see your update right away. In rare cases, I may have to push them until the next morning, but I'll reach out & let you know if so.
