Newt: September 3

This week, I kept things simple as Newt settled in with the warmer temps. We worked on Desensitizing to the Lead Rope, Yielding the Hindquarters, & Yielding the Forequarters. He was initially a bit unsure about Desensitizing to the Lead Rope as he got a read on my energy & what I was asking him. I was quite pleased with what he offered during Yielding the HQ. Yielding the FQ also went well. It's nice to have a horse with a clean slate with a healthy degree of sensitivity. He's likely not had much experience with truly Yielding the FQ, but he was willing to give it a try without much resistance. That's going to make him fun to work with.

Next week, we'll get into the round pen while continuing to work on these exercises. I'll also introduce Backing, Flexing, Lunging Stage 1 & 2, Sending, & potentially Circle Driving.

Next week's update will be posted on Friday.

I do my best to get these updates posted in a timely manner, but it's not uncommon for me to be outside until after dark, depending on the weather, my schedule, & who gets worked when so updates will sometimes be posted quite late in the evening. Don't be alarmed if you don't see your update right away. In rare cases, I may have to push them until the next morning, but I'll reach out & let you know if so.
