This week, we continued to work on Flexing, Yielding the HQ, One Rein Stops, Cruising, & Follow the Fence. Towards the end of the week, I introduced spurs to Newt for the first time when teaching Bend at the Walk & Bending Transitions. He's still has some sensitive, over-reactive moments, but these two exercises are great to get his mind back onto me in a controlled way. Yesterday, we got another bath on what might be one of our last nice days, but we were losing daylight, so we made do with wet photos. He also got to wear a cooler for the first time as we get into that time of year.
Next week, we'll continue working on Bend at the Walk, & Bending Transitions. I'll also introduce Vertical Flexion at the Standstill, Draw to a Stop, & Backing. If the weather cooperates & I have time with first rides on some other horses, we'll try to head down the gravel road mid-week to take advantage of the warmer weather to put some miles under his feet before the chilly (& potentially snowy) weather arrives.

Next week's update will be posted on Saturday.
I do my best to get these updates posted in a timely manner, but it's not uncommon for me to be outside until after dark, depending on the weather, my schedule, & who gets worked when so updates will sometimes be posted quite late in the evening. Don't be alarmed if you don't see your update right away. In rare cases, I may have to push them until the next morning, but I'll reach out & let you know if so.
