I hope you guys got some nice rain down there this week! We had around 3" total for the week, with 2.38" coming Friday/Friday night. Much needed!
This week, Nelly had her first couple of rides in between all of the rain showers & thunderstorms. I've chosen to restart her in a lariat-nosed hackamore to see if we can fix any headshaking that might occur or bypass it altogether. Knowing that she may be a little sticky-footed, especially going into the lope, I've also been using a dressage whip. Usually, I would rely on the end of my rein if extra encouragement is needed, but I've really found a dressage whip to be more effective & clearer. It also gives me the ability to use varying pressure on her rump & even at her shoulder so that I can enforce my rein cues.
She did want to kick up a bit with her hind end when first asked to lope, but we'll get that ironed out.
Overall, I think she should be a neat little filly!
Next week, we'll continue to work on Flexing, One Rein Stops, Cruising, & Yielding the HQ under saddle.

Next week's update will be posted on Saturday.
I do my best to get these updates posted in a timely manner, but it's not uncommon for me to be outside until after dark, depending on the weather, my schedule, & who gets worked when so updates will sometimes be posted quite late in the evening. Don't be alarmed if you don't see your update right away. In rare cases, I may have to push them until the next morning, but I'll reach out & let you know if so.
