Mistie: July 29

This week, we spent time working on improving the body control exercises we've been working on lately & just added Counterbending at the Walk today.

New this week, we spent a few days down at the Rollback Fence that I have set up in the hay yard. Mistie did pretty well with it. It has helped improve her stops & quicken her feet up a bit, especially in the turnaround.

We also took several rides through the pastures & walked the creek for the first time. Mistie does well riding out & about but likes to look around at all of the sights. Once we got to the creek, I did opt to get off & introduce her to the water on the ground first, especially because there's a bit of an embankment that was a bit daunting to her at first. With some encouragement, it didn't take long before she was in the water. Once I got back on, she walked in with no problem & walked a good length of the creek & back again.

We take off early tomorrow (Saturday) morning for Pierce for a weekend full of trimming, lessons, & riding.

Next week, we'll continue working on our "old" exercise as well as begin to introduce more advanced maneuvers like Stop on Whoa, Draw to Walk Transitions, Two Tracking, & Counterbending at the Walk & Trot.

We're also scheduled to have Jen come down on August 3rd for their follow-up Equinitry sessions.

Next week's update will be posted Thursday.
