Max: May 21

This week, we continued to work on Lateral Flexion, One Rein Stops, Cruising, Follow the Fence, & Yield the Hindquarters from a Standstill. We went back to the lariat nose hackamore as Max has been wanting to lean into the real deal more than I would like to see. He was a bit jumpy under saddle mid-week so that will be something that I keep an eye on. It may have just been one of those days, but I may go ahead & lay him down to help combat that.

Wednesday, Max got his first rinse off followed by his first bath on Thursday. Those both went quite well. He got a bit antsy during the bath as it is a bit longer process with shampooing, conditioning, etc. But I was quite pleased overall. Once he was dry, we got his tail rewrapped & his main braided up again.

Next week, we'll transition into the snaffle bit to get ahead of his wanting to lean on my hands. Review the exercises that we've previously been working on & introduce Bend at the Walk where we'll work on softening the head, neck, & ribcage. I likely add Checking Around & Laying Down as well.

Next week's update will be posted Thursday night.
