Jasper: October 22

This week, as we prepared for Jasper's first ride at LNH, we continued to work on Desensitizing, Yielding the HQ & FQ, Backing, Flexing, Lunging Stages 1 & 2, Circle Driving, & Popping the Stirrups. I also introduced the Helicopter Exercise & Throw to a Stop, which both went well.

On Friday, we took advantage of the 80° weather & he had his first bath here, which went very well.

My dentist pushed things back to Saturday as my aunt traveled out here to have her horse done as well & he wanted to do them all at once. Jasper had some pretty sharp points & ETR (Excessive Transverse Ridges). The dentist also added a bit seat.

Due to dentals, I opted to wait a day to do Jasper's first ride on Monday instead of Sunday. This next week, he'll receive his first ride in the round pen & another 2-3 rides there before we move into the arena.

Next week's update will be posted on Saturday.

I do my best to get these updates posted in a timely manner, but it's not uncommon for me to be outside until after dark, depending on the weather, my schedule, & who gets worked when, so updates will sometimes be posted quite late in the evening. Don't be alarmed if you don't see your update right away. In rare cases, I may have to push them until the next morning, but I'll reach out & let you know if so.
