Jasper: January 7

This week, we continued to work on Jasper's lateral & vertical softness, introducing Bending with Vertical. I'm beginning to ask for more effort in his stop & backup. I briefly introduced Sidepassing on the Fence, which was fairly textbook for day one. He's really beginning to get the hang of the Turnaround. He's gotten a bit frustrated & anticipatory with Shoulder In/Out, so we're going to table that for a bit as we progress with Sidepassing & his Turnaround. My husband & I were both under the weather towards the end of the week, so Jasper did have a couple of days off. Because of that, we didn't get into the shanked bit so we will wait until after this cold spell to introduce that.

Next week's plans are a bit up in the air. I hope after the snow blows through tomorrow, we can get a couple of rides in before the colder temps arrive. Otherwise, I'll do some trimming & introduce Jasper to hobbles.
