Jasper: December 23

I hope you & your family have a Merry Christmas! Stay safe & warm in the coming storm! This week, Jasper spent his time both inside & outside of the arena. Inside the arena, we continue to work on his Vertical Flexion at the Standstill, Walk, and trot; his stop & back, which is getting better; trotting & loping circles; & this week, I introduced Shoulder In/Out. He was pretty sticky with this so I didn't progress to Sidepassing quite yet. However, I really felt it click on Friday as we practiced outside of the arena. Outside of the arena, we continue to head out to the pastures, while intermittently working on some of our arena exercises. During Friday's 60° weather, we made the trip down to the creek for the first time. Jasper was pretty unsure at first, but with some coaxing, he decided that he could....jump...into the creek. Not an uncommon first creek entrance! We walked the creek a bit & practiced walking in calmly. I had hoped to go back down there today, but the rain came sooner than forecasted & we spent the day prepping for more snow than was forecasted the night before.

Next week will be dependent on what this storm brings. It's a bit up in the air right now, but we're forecasted to get 6-14" of snow with a couple of days of high winds. If possible, we'll spend our time riding outside & working on a few body control exercises by the house & out of the wind. If not, we'll spend some time playing with the sled. - Lexy Nuesch

Next week's update will be posted on Friday.

I do my best to get these updates posted in a timely manner, but it's not uncommon for me to be outside until after dark, depending on the weather, my schedule, & who gets worked when so updates will sometimes be posted quite late in the evening. Don't be alarmed if you don't see your update right away. In rare cases, I may have to push them until the next morning, but I'll reach out & let you know if so.
