Hero: October 13

Early this week, we continued to work on our Round Penning (would still like to see more responsiveness & energy out of him), Desensitizing, Yielding the HQ & FQ, Flexing (he doesn't have a lot of try with this, but after his Equinitry session, now I know why), Backing, Lunging Stage 1, Sending, & introduced Circle Driving.

On Wednesday, Hero had his Knotty Equine Equinitry session. Jen reset his C3 through C7 on his right side (heavily correlated to how poorly he was softening during Flexing) & C4 & 5 on his left side. Jen really wants to see him add a fair bit of weight as well. On a warmer day, I'll work on cleaning his sheath & check for a bean when I get the opportunity. She thought he might be dealing with some bots & recommended he be treated with something that will tackle them in a couple of weeks, so I'll do that as well.

I'll be adding the Vitamin E to his feed regimen as well. I may separate him & feed the alfalfa square bales I have left. I'm going to continue to increase his feed amounts to get more calories in him as I'd really like to see him put weight on & build a bit more fitness before putting a first ride on him. The weather threw a wrench in our plans for Thursday & today, so we'll take conformation photos on Monday when the weather is more favorable. Dentals were also moved to next Wednesday.

Next week, we'll shoot for a first saddle & continue with our groundwork. I'm not sure that I want to put a first ride on him quite yet, but we'll see how he does. - Lexy Nuesch

Next week's update will be posted on Sunday.

I do my best to get these updates posted in a timely manner, but it's not uncommon for me to be outside until after dark, depending on the weather, my schedule, & who gets worked when so updates will sometimes be posted quite late in the evening. Don't be alarmed if you don't see your update right away. In rare cases, I may have to push them until the next morning, but I'll reach out & let you know if so.
