How about this weather?! I guess we're skipping the mild 50-60° spring days & heading right to the 70-80° days next week. Hopefully, this past week is the last we'll see snow for the season.
This week, we continued to work on Desensitizing, Yielding the HQ & FQ, Flexing, & Lunging Stage 1. We also added Lunging Stage 2 & Sending.
Flash has greatly improved in his Flexing. He's beginning to bring his nose around to his side with the feel of the lead rope over direct pressure.
Flash's biggest area of struggle is still the human element. I get the sense that he feels trapped when he's approached/touched. We've done a fair bit of work to where I can flap my arms around while hooping & hollering without him feeling the need to scurry away, even though he has slack in the lead rope to do so. I've also spent a great deal of time asking him to move around me while I have my hand rubbing all over his neck, shoulder, & withers.
I would like to see him get a bit better about not having to start from the beginning with each session but to be a bit more at ease at the start with each day of work.
Next week, we'll continue with a few more groundwork exercises, begin Leading by the Feet & the Lay Down, & potentially introduce the Jeffrey's Method as we continue to build his confidence.
We were scheduled to make the trip up to Knotty Equine on April 11th. However, Jeff won't be back in NE until the end of next week, so we will hold off on bodywork until the dentals are done.

Next week's update will be posted on Saturday.
I do my best to get these updates posted in a timely manner, but it's not uncommon for me to be outside until after dark, depending on the weather, my schedule, & who gets worked when so updates will sometimes be posted quite late in the evening. Don't be alarmed if you don't see your update right away. In rare cases, I may have to push them until the next morning, but I'll reach out & let you know if so.
