Flash: April 15

Hope you got to enjoy the warm weather this week, even with all of the wind.

This week, we continued to work on our previous exercises & added Lunging Stage 2, Yield the Hindquarters & Send the Front End Through, Circle Driving, Throw to a Stop, Leading by the Feet, & the Lay Down.

Leading by the Feet & the Lay Down were the BIG exercises of the week. With Leading by the Feet, he had some textbook resistance at first. As we continued to work, he was coming forward off of the rope pressure well. He was quite resistant to the Lay Down. While I've definitely had horses that physically fought the rope more, Flash was more mentally resistant. He just sat with his knee on the ground & hindquarters in the air for quite a while. On Day 1, when he did finally go down, he got back up a couple of times before he would commit to laying down fully (see video). Day 2 went much smoother, though he did still take a bit of time to lay down (see video).

Next week, we'll lay down a couple more times & practice loading on my slant load trailer as we prepare to head up to Knotty Equine on Tuesday, April 18th.

Still no word from Jeff.

Next week will be a short one as I head down to TX for my annual Business Mastermind for Horse Trainers from Thursday through Sunday.

Next week's update will be posted on Wednesday.

I do my best to get these updates posted in a timely manner, but it's not uncommon for me to be outside until after dark, depending on the weather, my schedule, & who gets worked when so updates will sometimes be posted quite late in the evening. Don't be alarmed if you don't see your update right away. In rare cases, I may have to push them until the next morning, but I'll reach out & let you know if so.
