Cricket: May 5

This week, Cricket has continued to work on Desensitizing, Flexing, Yielding the HQ & FQ, Backing, Lunging Stage 1 & 2, Circle Driving, & we added Desensitizing to the Saddle Pad & to the lead rope around her belly to simulate the cinch. We've also been incorporating some of her stretches into her sessions.

I had planned to saddle this week, but I saw some great changes that I wanted to continue to build upon before introducing the saddle. Cricket has been walking up, completely willing to be caught again. She's also gotten better about regulating herself to where she can walk nice & relaxed during many of our exercises.

She definitely still has some deer-like moments, but she's getting much quicker about thinking through them.

Next week, I anticipate saddling on Tuesday, if all goes well, & potentially doing her first ride next weekend if all goes well.

Next week's update will be posted on Saturday.

I do my best to get these updates posted in a timely manner, but it's not uncommon for me to be outside until after dark, depending on the weather, my schedule, & who gets worked when so updates will sometimes be posted quite late in the evening. Don't be alarmed if you don't see your update right away. In rare cases, I may have to push them until the next morning, but I'll reach out & let you know if so.
