Cricket: August 11

This week, we've been able to get back into the arena with consistency. We've continued to progress & refine our previous exercises & maneuvers while also introducing Shoulder In/Out & Sidepassing. She gave me a bit of attitude with Shoulder In/Out. Initially, she wanted to speed up with the additional pressure from my spurs instead of yielding away from the pressure. She did kick out a couple of times, but once she figured out how to move away from the pressure right off the bat, she no longer offered that behavior. She did better once we moved to Sidepassing on the Fence. She also got introduced to my large training ball on the ground. She did well; pushing it a bit with her front legs, standing to have it bounced up against & up & over her back. Next week, we'll continue working on Shoulder In/Out & bring Sidepassing off of the fence. If she feels ready, I may also begin working on the Turnaround. We'll also play with the large training ball under saddle. I'm compiling a list of tack I recommend in response to August's most recent email. If there's a day late next week or early the following week to do August's job shadow & another lesson with Cricket, we can sure make plans for that. - Lexy Nuesch

Next week's update will be posted on Saturday.

I do my best to get these updates posted in a timely manner, but it's not uncommon for me to be outside until after dark, depending on the weather, my schedule, & who gets worked when so updates will sometimes be posted quite late in the evening. Don't be alarmed if you don't see your update right away. In rare cases, I may have to push them until the next morning, but I'll reach out & let you know if so.
