I hope you guys got a little rain down south this week! We received a much-needed .50" yesterday.
This week, Cricket received her first dental. She had sharp points & was given a bit seat. She also had her upper wolf teeth pulled. She was pretty sensitive to the speculum & with her extra small mouth, it took some time to get everything shaped up.
Regarding this week's training, I've really been focusing on getting Cricket to be a bit smoother & more fluid with our previous groundwork exercises. She tends to either be resistant & sticky-footed or reactive & fast, without much in between. Just getting her to walk calmly around has been a task, but an important one for teaching her how to regulate herself a bit better. If one had to break a horse's training down very simply, we're teaching them to be comfortable bringing their energy up & bringing it back down without all of the reactivity in between. Repetition is a big key in this!
Next week, Cricket will have her first saddle if all goes according to plan.

Next week's update will be posted on Friday.
I do my best to get these updates posted in a timely manner, but it's not uncommon for me to be outside until after dark, depending on the weather, my schedule, & who gets worked when so updates will sometimes be posted quite late in the evening. Don't be alarmed if you don't see your update right away. In rare cases, I may have to push them until the next morning, but I'll reach out & let you know if so.
