Cody: April 15

Hope you got to enjoy the warm weather & kept your feet firmly on the ground with this past week's wind.

I ended up changing the game plan & held off on Leading By the Feet, Laying Down, & Hobble Training & opted to get into the arena instead. We worked on Flexing, Bend at the Walk, Vertical Flexion at the Walk/Trot/Lope, Stopping, & Backing. I've found he's not putting a lot of effort in, so we're raising the bar for how soft he needs to be. When Stopping & Backing, he was really wanting to root his nose down into the bit. By the end of the week, I saw some nice improvement in all of these exercises. When loping circles, he's quite rough & strung out, so we'll work to make that more united, softer, & more fun to ride.

With the warm weather, we had a few good days to hose off & stand tied as well.

Next week, we'll continue to work on his lateral & vertical softness before we get into more the meat & potatoes of advancement. We're also scheduled to make the trip up to Knotty Equine on Tuesday, April 18.

Next week will be a bit shorter as I'll head down to TX for my annual Business Mastermind for Horse Trainers from Thursday through Sunday.

Next week's update will be posted on Wednesday.

I do my best to get these updates posted in a timely manner, but it's not uncommon for me to be outside until after dark, depending on the weather, my schedule, & who gets worked when so updates will sometimes be posted quite late in the evening. Don't be alarmed if you don't see your update right away. In rare cases, I may have to push them until the next morning, but I'll reach out & let you know if so.
